Ok, I am confused here.. I have a 2000 Optimax 135. I knew it was "oil Injected" , but when I went to begin my winterizing fogging process.....I couldnt locate the carbs... Is this motor FUEL INJECTED ????

Also, I added the SEAFOAM fuel stabilizer/cleaner/ect product to the gas tank, drove around the lake for a while, and within minutes, it just didnt run as good as it did before.. Is this normal ???
Thanks..

Re: Fuel Injected ???

Your motor is a DFI and also has a air filter(#35-853333T) that I will bet has never been changed. It also has a mechanical fuel pump that needs servicing if you havent changed it lately(#21-857005A1)and a cannister fuel filter(# 35-18458Q4) and replace plugs (NGK ZFR5F-11). I wont make any comments on the seafoam... but I would drain tank and refill with fresh fuel , just put the drained fuel in car/truck/lawnmower.

Re: Fuel Injected ???

Bought the boat used about a month ago. I seen the little airfilter on top- looks new, but the rest I will look into. I better get a better book... As far as the seafoam... It was the first time Ive used it in ANY boat... Got my opinions here about seafoam & Stabil Marine & made a decision.. Again, not sure why it doen not run as well as it did BEFORE I dumped in the Seafoam. I suspect that crap got loosened up & is now in my injectors, or my plugs are getting fouled or both.. IF I wouldnt put Seafoam in my Mercury, I sure wouldnt put it in our Honda Pilot or CRVs...... back to the drawing board... ** Thank you for the part numbers !

Re: Fuel Injected ???

I bought my current boat a little over two years ago, and after having engine issues which I now believe were related to bad gas and reading all the recomendations in iboats about using a gas treatment went ahead and put some in. The engine ran like total crapola for a while, then cleared up and has been great ever since. My best guess is that some varnish got cleaned out from the tank and fuel lines and went throught the engine.

My boat's just one data point, but in two years of using gas treatment and a spin-on fuel filter/water separator I've had zero problems (even with gas that has sat for several months).
