Fuel line adapter confusion...

So a person selling a fuel line adapter that looks just like the one I have for our 72 Johnson 50 hp engine has it listed as 'Yamaha'.... but it looks like the other one on our fuel tank for the Johnson.

Anyhow, will this work:

Evinrude/Johnson and Yamaha connectors look alike, but are different size, so no they are not interchangeable.

They are all for sale here at iboats.

Correct! Same with some Hondas. A good design is a good design.

Thanks gang... I hate to be a pain , but can someone point me to the correct one for a 72 Johnson? I'd hate to buy the wrong one as we are planning a long cruise next week.

any OMC single line connector will work on your motor, and are usually available at most large hardware stores (canadian tire here).

My other tank connector is solid brass, but would this work for my 72 JOHNSON 50?

Well, two people (and me makes three) have pointed you at iboats Marine Store...you know, the guys who support this forum.
If that doesn't work for you, heck, buy the Yamaha fitting...might not work, but the price is right.

I've ordered from Iboats and had a great experience. If you read the read I asked which one I need an didn't get a response; therefore, I was moving ahead.

For a plastic portable tank yes for the fuel hose you want either the 3/8 resin one from Seasense

The 5/16 from Moeller it depends on the diameter of your hose.

Do not use a 5/15 fitting on a 3/8 hose you will have fuel leaks.

The minute you enter the iboats store there is a large sign that reads:

They'll answer your question, and send you the right part...

And I did reread the thread and there may be a misunderstanding.

If you are truly after the male connector for the engine, you pretty much need to get the proper part from a dealer...part # 0376154.....and they are not cheap. The other option would be to contact one of the wrecking yards" listed in the archives/FAQ.

If you need the fitting for the tank end, the iboats one will be fine.As was suggested, match to your specific tank.
