OK first of all, I'm pretty new to boating, I was raised on the Alberta prairies and recently moved to BC. In the process, I inherited a 16' 1965 Crestliner with a '73 Johnson 85hp motor.
Now on to my question.....
I read SOMEWHERE that you can use either SAE30 or TCW type oil for the fuel mix. I have just mixed up 2-5 gallon tanks with a 50:1 mix of SAE30 and hope that won't do any damage. I have also bought a gallon of TCW type 2 stroke oil and plan on using it from now on from other things I have read.
With the cost of gas... is the SAE30 mix OK for 10 gallons or should I doctor it up somehow so I don't do any damage. I haven't run yet on these tanks.
Remember, this is a 35 year old motor so it doesn't need the same standards as todays...
Any help is greatly appreciated.
