The forces from a typical jet are transferred through the bottom not the transom. There are a lot of light layup high MPH jet boats out there with nothing but a glass transom and that is not very thick. Jets a re a completely different animal. it takes a lot of torque and HP to make a jet fast. That jet 86 is using is designed for a much smaller, much lighter craft. I hope it works for him but I'm afraid it just isn't enough. There are plenty of boats like his around with 350 HP plus V8s and a pump that moves twice the water of that ski pump and they are barely capable of 50 MPH.
All that being said. It is a cool project. I love it when people try something out of the box. I will be watching progress on this one for sure. We will probably all learn something from a project like this.
