Re: Gas Price in Calif

I'm watching the news, and thinking "somebody is going to start a flippin' gas price thread", and sure as sheep, here it is . . .

Fishing Dude has it right. This thread will only last with posts like his.

It will supposedly only be for a month or so but it was sure a shock today driving by the gas station.

Sounds like a good time to fill up the big block powered boat (twins would be better) and go hauling butt around the lake for an hour or 10...:D

(I don't buy the summer/winter blend "issue" and shortages, it's not like they didn't know winter was coming )

There is actually a benefit to higher prices...causes less traffic on the weekends!

<< goes outside and lands a big affectionate smooch on beloved Tennessee soil>> I sometimes take where I live for granted.

I saw prices like that in D.C. last spring and you coulda' pushed me over with a feather. It's been bad here too, but nothing like that. Sorry Bruce, hope it gets better for ya' ... and doesn't migrate this way for the winter.

Saw that on the news last nite. Really hits home when you see the price displayed on the signs. At least it's only temporary. But still, that's high/sucks even for CA. Trouble is, that's probably just a peak where the rest of the country will be eventually. Prices like that would put me out of business since my gas bill is one of my biggest expenses.... And I'm just small potatoes. Can't imagine a company that has a fleet of rigs to fill up all the time....

CA can't buy gasoline from outside the state so its a local problem. What I heard is that other states have similar issues but often get waivers for when the transition takes affect.

Well, dont feel too bad about it....thats about where our fuel has been for some time. The other (sad?) news is that it really isn't going to be going back down much or for very long so its best to get used to it.;)
All good

Just saying that the Richmond refinery was forced to close as the oil feild dried up. So deal with the prices as you give somthing up as you want somthing else. In this case more cash to get more fuel.

LOL. Weird info you have! The Richmond refinery is on the SF bay. No oil field there. All oil is tankered in. It was forced to close because of a fire in August.

Prices in SC have been dropping lately. Down to $3.30 something for regular unleaded

I paid a hair under $4.00 the other day when I tried buying gas at Sams Club and discovered our membership expired and had to go to the local Holiday. These are the days I wished all my vehicles weren't v8 suv's given we aren't towing anything inbetween seasons. They used to do a story about the people that bought gas at the gas bank for some unheard of price like 1.99 when gas would touch on 4.00. I haven't seen one of those stories for almost 4 years now.
