Re: Getting Excited...

It's going to be a while before any boating is done here. We still have about 24 to 28 inches of ice on the local lake. The good news is this weekends forecast is for 67 degrees and the local river is open. It's time to dust off the tackle box and go Northern hunting. :)

I might go put the boat in Pueblo for a few on Wednesday...should be in 70's˚!! I'll pull hose and drain motor after, just to be sure!

Re: Getting Excited...

no sir Guntersville for the weekend.
There are sooooo many lakes/impounds to try out down here. I've been out on Dale Hollow, Center Hill, Tim's Ford, Percy Priest and Normandy. Guntersville looks nice, I'll have to keep it in mind.

I do want to get to Center Hill and Percy this year - never been on either of those.
Priest is "okay." North end (up by the dam) is MUCH nicer than the South end. It's really convenient for me (driveway to wet hull is about 30 minutes), but that puts us in the South End most of the time. We run a little North and then play around. I can cover the length of the main lake (up to the dam) in about 30 minutes.

Center Hill is beautiful. We like to put in around Smithville and run over to Fancher's Waterfall. Not a big falls, but a unique feature on the lake. TWRA doesn't like you to try boating up to Burgess Falls, though some have done it.

I went to Percy a few years ago, man is that place ever rocky(at least where i was).
Priest is one of those lakes where you really kinda' need to know where you're runnin'. The bottom comes up to meet you real quick, and it' ain't soft.

We usually go to the Tn river.
I'd like to run down the river near Chattanooga this year if we can figure a weekend for it. Even right in the city the river looks like a nice cruise.

Oh yeah! Spring is here in New England... Here on the Cape we're expecting 6-18" of snow and Blizzard conditions Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon... I guess we should warm up by August if we're lucky. :pout:

Yup, the snow banks in the driveway had almost melted, so I guess we 'need' more :noidea:

:cold:March 25 and it's 13 degrees right now in NH. At this rate, maybe ice-out will be sometime in June.

Go for it. The lake is way up from last year. I would come with ya but I will be out of town. Water temp was still 40 the last time we were down there a week or so ago.

Cheers! I'll report back with pics...I mean it will be the boat's re-splash!

The run from Hales Bar to downtown Chatt is awesome - we've done it a couple times in the fall as the leaves are turning is just pretty beyond belief. Run in early afternoon, snack or two somewhere around the city docks, run back. Hales Bar has cabins to rent so you can make a weekend of it (or campground/RV)

I've tentatively booked a week of pto for first week in May - I want to run from Hales Bar to Knoxville and back.

I'm ready too, mentally. Got out this weekend and serviced engine. Changed oil and filter. Discovered fuel leak on top carb around choke. Luckily was able to get an o-ring at local parts house. Fixed it right up in just a few minutes. Then it fired right up and purred away.

Ordered a trolling motor from here on Iboats. Hopefully get it mounted next week. Then we just need to get her scrubbed up and looking as good as she runs.

We normally run the Tn River near Clifton, Tn. We have an RV near there.

... snow in Middle TN this morning on the way to work. Nothing like you guys deal with, but for this area ... :jaw:

Sounds like a fun trip ... both downtowns (Knox and Chatt) are nice at the waterfront. Nashville is kinda' iffy.

Re: Getting Excited...

Got the boat all prepped...just need to run on muffs in the morning (after the gym), make sure she's happy, then off to Pueblo, with any luck, hold the renaming ritual and be on the water by 12:30. Pueblo is supposed to be 75˚!!!:whoo: I'll report back with pics if all goes well!

Cheers,

I bet that is a nice ride! We stay around Paris Landing, and go up to land between the lakes. Its nice a time or two. But it does get boring. There really is nothing to see. There are a few decent places to eat along the way though. We have been to Perryville several times pretty close to were BigD goes. Pretty nice area, but not alot to see.

I would like to do this to someday. But it would probably be cheaper for me to rent a boat than to bring mine there.

Re: Getting Excited...

I know, right!?! Towing my bow rider over Mt. Eagle alone could be just as much.

That little bump?
:)

I get a solid 15-18 mpg towing and only about 55 miles each way for me.

Princecraft Pontoon Boat 8-10 $135.00 $200.00
Deck Boats #2 & #3 Rental (Our NEW boats) Approx 6 200.00 325.00
