Not arguing, just trying to understand which sensor has a purple wire on it?
The purple wire supplies 12V power to the motor a gauges. Gauges also have a ground wire. Each gauges has at least one other wire which goes to the sensor.
Gas - Pink
Tach - Gray
Water temp - Tan
The ALT has a sense lead but not a sensor so to speak, it goes to the ALT regulator. The purple turns on the ALT and the Red/Purple always has power which senses the battery voltage
