Never changed a gimbal bearing / bellows...but wanting to try....been looking on here, but I'm on a dial up connection, so it takes forever to research on-line ! If someone knows of a good thread to follow on here, I would much appreciate a link to it.

I've pulled the drive before to grease u-joints and adjust shift cable, but never changed these items before. Anything else I should replace whilst in there again ? Special tools needed aside from alignment tool ? I only have the worthless Seloc manual, so I'm flying blind so to speak. Parts source ? I've read a lot on here about OEM v. aftermarket junk....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I would like to only have to pull the drive once a year to lube things...not to replace junk parts.

89 Donzi R17 4.3 OMC Cobra Drive (with all 3 gears working !) ?

Many thanks

Phil

Go to stickies @ the top of the forum and download the free manual to your outdrive and crystall clear instuctions and everyone here will help if you get stuck on anything you can also go to y tube there are some short videos that will give some instruction to the process. That is my plan as soon as the weather breaks I have been reading and keeping up on the posts in the forum to be prepaired. Parts you can try aftermarket marine.com, Tungsten marine, overtons and Iboats discounts are on right now. hope this helps good luck!!!

FF, sorry, nothing in the sticky for OMC manual downloads, they don't exist.

Thanks for replys...

I know I probably need the real OMC manual to do it correctly, but I do have the "lost at" se-loc one which has given me a general idea of the process...just haven't done it before...tips and tricks, links to threads, most appreciated from the experienced one's will be most appreciated.

I have priced "kits" from go2marine, etc., none of them sound like they are selling OEM parts....is BRP the subsequent supplier to OMC now ? Are they considered OEM now ? Just wondering where the experts on here find Cobra OEM parts, if any, and whether the price difference is considered worth it, if you have to pull the drive off to maintain it every year anyway. Is it worth it to go OEM....my curiosity I guess....change it anyway with the cheapest kit available for the next season ? Any suppliers to stay away from ?

Many thanks,

Phil
