Well, I`ve been working on this boat, it seems like all summer and I`m this close to being completed. So last night I decided to do a compression test. Here`s where stupid comes in. Start the motor to warm her up, shut her down , pull the plugs and screw in the compression tester (just using the rubber hose to fully seat the tester). Go to unscrew the tester and it needed a wrench to back it out. Come to find out it had the metric adapter on it. STUPID! STUPID! STUPID! I could kick mtself in the a--. Questions 1) Just run a chase thru it and hope there`s enough threads remaining to keep the plug from shooting out like a missle. 2) Helli coil it. (or have it done by a pro). 3) Source a used head (port side) all sites I looked at said they were obsolete. This is a 1973 115hp #115393m rude. It`s a strong running motor and I don`t want to give up on her. Compression test results were 118 psi +/- 2 psi. Thanks to all for any help. Just call me STUPID!
