I have a 4.3l merc. The mount in the carb is broke off which holds the stud for the flame arrestor/cover. What are my options here? Possible jb weld?

I know it's not ideal. It could I just run a spring/wire over the arrestor to secure it? Until I could get a new top half. I believe that's the air horn?

There is a product available that uses low temp rod .http://www.alumiweld.com/ I have used it to create threads and weld up a Y pipe. It does work. If you dont feel confident ship the cover to me.

I've used the aluminum brazing rods Bt posted, tricky to work with, but would make the repair.

I would not use JB weld. If a chunk broke off it would have only 1 place to go, down into the cylinders...

if you use the aluminum brazing rod, pull the carb apart first.

you could also take the carb top to someont to tig weld it.
