My ski locker gets a puddle of water in it while the bilge stays dry. The longer im on the water the more water accumulates in the ski locker untill the water level raises high enough to enter the drain tube to the bilge......the boat is a 2000 sea ray 230 br...my only thought is i have a crack or hole where the boat rest on the bunks that i cant see while its on the trailer...any expierence with this?

Are you using one of them rubber stoppers to plug the transome drain hole on the inside of the boat or the outside? I had the same problem when I was using the plug on the inside so I switched to a screw on type for the outside and now I get no water. Hope this helps...

Do you have a built in ice chest under one of the bow seats? Are you putting ice in it when on the water? My 21' monterey has a ice chest under the Port side bow seat and it drains into the ski locker and then back to the bilge. I also have a ice chest built into the dash on the port side, however that drains overboard because the drain is well above the water line.

I'm unfamiliar with the subdeck of your boat, but I have a couple of thoughts.

Could it be water trapped in a forward bilge compartment that as it sloshes around, it splashes into the locker, then back out again? Check for an obstructed bilge passage from forward compartment(s). If you plug the drain, does it still fill?

Are there wet people getting in and out of the boat?

Is there a visible crack in the locker?

These were just some thoughts that popped into my head when I read your post.

i dont have any built in ice chest in the bow seats.i have a port dash ice chest that drains directly overboard.

Re: Help i have a water leak....

i have put towels and rags forward in the ski locker to see if water is coming from the bow all towels are dry the water is seeping in from around the pvc pipe. the forward compartments drain onto the deck which drains into the bilge or ski locker but see statement above. and yes i have plugged the little pvc pipe in the ski locker thats how i know the water is seeping in from around the pvc pipe while in the water.no wet people just me in the boat trying to find the leak.

Re: Help i have a water leak....

Have you tried loading the boat on the trailer ****-eyed? That way you can see the areas that rest on the bunks, and check for problems. If all looks good, then I'll go back to saying water trapped in a forward compartment.

You'll still need to figure out if the water is 'new' water from each time on the water, or if it's trapped water. I'd still double check the pass throughs from the forward compartments. And it doesn't sound correct that a forward compartment (below the deck) would drain onto the deck and then to the bilge. I think you thought I meant the forward seating area. Below the deck, there are numerous compartments, and the water has to be able to travel from one compartment to the other, and to do that, there are pvc pipes between each area. It is not uncommon for them to get plugged up with debris. Those are what you need to check are clear, otherwise a compartment will accumulate water.

yes i have plugged the little pvc pipe in the ski locker thats how i know the water is seeping in from around the pvc pipe while in the water.

If you have access to the other side of the pvc pipe, and all looks well on the hull from the exterior, seal around the pvc tube with some 5200, but only if you've confirmed that the pass-throughs are clear.
