sorry I missed this thread,
with all disclaimers about pre-testing anything you try solvent-wise
I've had good results removing sharpie marks from just about everything
using regular old / garden variety Isopropyl Alcohol

barring that working,
if I could score some pvc inflatable boat paint for cheap or free
I would maybe have tried that

but I suspect by the time you do much of anything to try to mitigate
the problem beyond trying some solvent, you would end up spending
the better half of one of the reg number plates

i.e. good call...

so, how did it turn out?

any caveats to share?

yea bought plates and put them on using stabond. They are holding very well
