I have a 4hp Chrysler Sea King and need to replace the impeller on it but find myself clueless as how to get the lower unit detached in order to get to the impeller. I have removed the nut from the bolt on the back side of the lower unit that faces upward towards the motor head, removed the nut from the underside of the lower unit by the output shaft, removed the flathead screw from the side of the lower unit, and have even even loosened the shift linkage screw from the window port situated halfway down the shaft.
After doing the above, I am still unable to get the lower unit to drop. I even went as far as removing the four allen head bolts that secure the propeller to the lower unit, but think that I would need a puller tool to remove the propeller housing from the lower unit.
My question to you is this: Do I need to remove/extract the propeller mechanism (held on by 4 allen bolts) from the lower unit utilizing a puller of some sort or do I have to figure out what else needs to be disconnected along the upper or lower shaft housing in order for the lower unit to be removed.
Your knowledge on the matter is greatly appreciated.
