FIOS is nice, I just wish it was cheaper:

You got that thing turbocharged amendegw? I've never seen upload speeds that fast or that close to the download speed.

It's FIOS - Verizon has strung fiber optics all the way to my front door (well it's actually my basement window). My television signal is also delivered via fiber & it also makes for a beautiful HD picture. I used to have Comcast (who compressed the HD signal). FIOS is noticeably better.

The bad news is... I pay $170/mo for phone,TV & Internet (which includes 3 boxes plus a PVR).

On Comcast, I am only a few dollars below that with all the same services and as far as I know, we have optical cable out to the street connection but certainly not to the house.

What was Comcast costing you for those services, in your locale?

WizeOne,

You know, I made an assumption, which could be incorrect. Optical definitely goes to the street. An orange cable then runs from the street to a junction box in my basement which in turn has connections for phone (RJ11) & TV (coax). My assumption was that the orange cable contained fiber. That may or may-not be the case.

I went back to my records and it turns out that my Comcast bill was $130/mo for TV & Internet + $25+/mo for Vonage phone = $155/mo. Could be higher now. I guess the difference isn't as great as I thought. Both seem expensive!
