Re: How long is a boat good for
Ned L has a point. I bought a 22ft Whaler a few years back and at the time it was about 25 or 30 years old with a 200 Johnson hanging off the back. The old feller that owned it was a retired fireman and the boat was kept outside. Every year he would meticulously clean the prepare the engine for winter (Florida) and clean the boat to its finest detail. He was moving back north and one day he asked if I wanted to buy the vessel. It had not been started in the last couple of years. I made an offer and bought it for cheap, spent $600 on the motor for a bunch of little things. The glass had spider webbed but over it was clean and really solid. The mechanic could not believe how well it ran and I could easily hit about 55/60 without a problem. Loved that boat. I sold it a few years later for more than I paid for it.
