My gunwales are a 1/4" thick. 14" off center of my keel (installed a thru hull transducer) is almost 1 1/4". My keel has to be pushing 2" easy

Unless you can get the info from Regal, the only way to be sure is to drill and measure. A little extreme, but acurate. :D

Not only where, but why?

need space to install my float switch ,i want total clearance ...so i need to know what size screw will go in the fiberglass without puncturing the hull.

Or attach it to the transom but whatever you do, do not put a screw in your hull...

read the instructions. glue it, but first move it around and test. use a baggy of water if necessary.

Re: How thick is my boat's Hull.

I would not make or advice anyone to put a hole that pass thru the hull under the water line. That is just asking for a leak. Even a hole that will not pass thru the hull is not a good idea as it will not provide much strength anyway. Yes, there are a few accessories where you do not have an option but a float switch is not one of them. Gluing a piece of wood/plastic to the hull then attaching the switch to it is about the best option.

Why not, if done properly, with the proper thru hull fitting, valves, transducers, and fairing blocks, it's done all the time on boats small and large.

But for the float switch, I would think about this method.
Get a small 500gpm pump with a float switch built in. mount it on an aluminum strip (Bent to shape) and mount it under the engine as close the the back as possible.
This will do 2 things. When the boat gets on plane and is bow high, any water in the bilge will get pumped out before it ever gets to the engine bellhousing and flywheel.
Then, glue a block in front of the engine and mount a larger (1500GPM or higher) to it. With rule pumps, you can add a float switch that clips into the base and holds the float switch.
This pump would only be used if the other (smaller) pump should fail or the water is coming in faster than normal.

I agree, it is done all the time. Many boats have sunk due to holes under the water line that the fitting have come loose or any other gear have failed. Like I said, if it has to be done that way, then do it. A #10 screw hole ain't going to sink any vessel unless left unattended in the water for I don't know how many days or weeks. However, being specific to the OP, it is not worth it to put a hole in the hull for a pump or a switch. In my opinion is not necessary.
