How To: Editing the title of a thread.

Well, I bet the title got your attention in a hurry

Anyway, this is Don S using my test alias name that is not a moderator.
What this thread is about is the editing of the title by members. I know mods can change the title, but would like to get a few replies here to see if I can change the title as a non moderator, and if so, how to do it for sure so others can learn.

LOL, no, I have posted with that alias a few times as test posts, all were deleted. This name has been given more infractions and been banned more times than anyone would believe. Like I said, it's just a test alias.

It may not take any more replies, it may just take a few more days. I was able to edit the tile and add -2 to it. We'll see.

One thing I see which the purpose of the ID theft is one of those two guys is changing the post title. The last few characters are changing. Or is another Mod playing in this one too?

Hey snod, whatcha like for engine oil? I need to change mine and need a really good recommendation. Oh ya, I don't want to use synthetic. Or dino for that matter. Also, I don't like 10-30, 10-40, or straight weight anything. I want the best stuff that money can buy though (on sale at WalMart, let's not get too crazy). I'll probably just change it the one time and then leave it. Forever. Oh, do I need to swap my oil filter too? It's FRAM, which is super awesome so prolly not.

No, it's me changing it, only as snod. What I have found is you can change the title in the thread by double click in the box with the title in it. Don't click the title itself, that will just open the thread. Just double click out in the blank area of the box (as shown in the image below) and a text box should forum around your title. Edit as you want and click outside the box again to accept the changes.
How long that option lasts, or if it goes away at all, I don't know.

FWIW, I often change titles to get rid of typos, misspellings etc. One thing is that each post in the thread must be edited as the title follows the replies.

Seems I asked about changing the title on a thread some time ago and I think I remember being told there is a time limit on that, and after that, a mod has to do it. But the forum may have changed since then too.
