I hit a buey and cut a blade on my prop in half and bent the shaft very little. I was about 5 miles out (lake) ran about 3/4 all way back. I put a new prop on it and it seems to do ok with a land test no vibration at 3/8 speed. I changed lower lube oil and did not see any water in it after I hit the buey. After I tested the motor on land some oil did leak out from the exhust hole (prop area)not much at all though but, I know that is bad It is a 84 150hp Evenrude been a great motor till now WHAT SHOULD I DO??????? Thanks for any help or idea's you can give me.

There must be some reason you haven't taken it to a repair shop. The lower end housing is as likely to be warped as that hardened steel shaft bent. On an OMC '84 used parts, including the lower end . . .complete assembly . . . should be easy to find and replace. Swapping the lower end is as easy as changing the water pump. Good luck.

JB Thanks man for the reply I was hoping there would be a better way because after your core refund it will still cost close to 1,700.00 for the part or do you know of any cheaper places? Thanks again JB.

fOOT NOTE: THE REASON I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP IS BECAUSE MY FRIEND WHO WORKS ON CARS AND BOATS KEEPS TELLING ME "JUST BE READY WHEN I CALL YOU TO BRING IT OVER" I AM SICK OF WAITING KNOW I AM MOVING ON IT.

If you plan on tackling this job on your own and have a good background with auto mechanics, a good set of tools AND A BOOK on the motor, you should have no problem with the repair.
And I know two machine shops in my town that can actually straighten that shaft out, good as new.
So once you have it torn-down, try that before spending a gajillion buks on a new one.

------------------
I came, I saw, I Have No CLUE!

Another good idea 12footer that would save money and we have a couple shops in town that could do that. Here I go...
