hi all, this is what ive done, tell me if i have missed something.
my new to me 2005 Glastron with 3.0l VP and sx drive is difficult shifting into reverse and REALLY difficult shifting back to neutral.
so i disconnected the linkage to the carby to isolate the gear shift cable, and its still stiff i was fairly confident it could be the gear cable, so next i disconnected it at the out drive ( under the cover) and tested how easy it was to shift the gears at the drive itself, and it was easy, so then i disconnected the cable at the hand control unit and now the handle controller is easy to move, so with the gear selector cable disconnected at both ends i tried moving it, and i could barley move it at all.
i greased everything up and tried to spray wd40 into the cable, and thats made a marginal improvement maybe 5%
so i guess the cable has to come out and be replaced, ive read that tele flex make an extreme cable and that this is the one to use.
can anyone give me any pointers on how the removal and replacement is done, i guess i have to get the old one out and measure before i even know what length i will need, where do i start can it be feed through from the inner transon to the out drive or does it all have to come apart??
any comments greatly appreciated
