How about SC? Tons of boats, nice and sunny? Like Florida, just without as many tourists!

Re: IBOATS GET TOGETHER

Total Estimated Time/distrance: Distance: 1338.45 miles
22 hours, 14 minutes
Thus are the words of the mighty "Mapquest" directions search....

Mrs 12Footer is counting beans, and I am eating them. We are both hoping against hope to be able to attend.
It's not looking good, but we are both determined to do everything possible to get there. I have not met JB or Bruno, or anyone else yet. And I am looking forward to making it there and back.
The crunch is on now ,so that by then, we should be able to go.
Odds of sucess are up from 30 to 40% at this time.
And we are werking on improving the odds.

Re: IBOATS GET TOGETHER

Hello all!
I fear I'd win the longest trip prize!
The big MQ (mapquest) says:
Total Distance: 2017.98 miles
Total Estimated Time: 32 hours, 52 minutes
(that's one-way!)

Although I'm new to the group and it sounds like a ton of fun....to be realistic...I doubt I'd be able to make it. Given the current cost of fuel and my oh-so-high MPG tow vehicle (suburban), things don't look good for me making a...a-hem...4,000+ mile round trip fishing vacation :( Any chance of doing a same day regional event? You know....everyone in NV(where I'm at), CA, OR & WA gets together the same day as the MO group gets together, and afterwords we compare notes? I agree that we can't compare fish sizes to award prizes, etc., but hey, I wouldn't mind being able to claim that I was the:

IBOATS.COM
1st Annual Fishing Tournament
Western Region Champion

Besides, it sounds like a good chance of meeting some new friends, having a (insert favorite drink here) or two, and well let's face it....a bad day fishing is ALWAYS better than a good day working! Just my 2 cents.... ;)

Re: IBOATS GET TOGETHER

rambofish, I am planning this one for LOA and the next time it will be somewhere else.

After I see what kind of turn out I have for this one as to where the next one will be.

I'm sure that there are a lot of people that won't be able to attend for one reason or the other and thats ok too.

It was just a plan to get some of the members together to meet and see who it is we talk to on this great forum.

As I have stated before the bring your boat thing was just a add on.

It is specifically a get-together.

Also want to say thanks for those that have showed interest and to watch this topic as I will be having more updates in the next couple of days or so.

MY, I will know more tomorrow.

I will more than likely start a kind of sign up list so I can see how many "might" attend.

Am working on getting some discounts on some stuff out there depending on how many shows up or plans on attending.

Re: IBOATS GET TOGETHER

Evening all,
Bit far for me to come from Australia. I could probably afford the air ticket but the excess baggage charge for a 5.5m alloy C/C is going to be the killer. But I have agreat offer.
I am 55, retired, Ex-Military, Right Wing & still married. Any of the members (well, one lucky one) who subscribe to the forum are welcome to come on down to Brisbane. I sorta owe some TIME to some US Military people for something that happened a long time ago. I fish, drink and generally have a pretty good time.
To the offer:
You get here, (you pay the airfare) I'll put you up. I have space, boat & 4 Wheel Drive (SUV). Bring your wife (girlfriend, etc). Plan on at least three weeks in Australia. My wife says I'm crazy to do this but you never know your luck in the big city.
In the event that I am overwhelmed with offers
I guess I will have to go with the smoothest talker but if you served in SVN as a grunt (USMC counts) you will have a head start.
Weather in Brisbane is great (similar to Fl).
No bul****ters need apply.
My email is: boyds1@bigpond.com.au
Regards,
Peter.

Re: IBOATS GET TOGETHER

I actually did my R&R in Sidney in 1969. The young ladies sure treated us like kings and made us feel welcome, while the folks back home were saying unkind things about us and what we were doing. Nice thought Peter and someone I'm sure will take you up on your kind offer.
