Sorry to hear about your mishap KD. Hopefully everything goes in your favor with the new career search.

Houseboat sounds interesting SB. But who is going to be the designated driver what with all the captains and admirals that are sure to show up.
Once a date is set, I'll have a better idea if I can be there. I have to work one weekend a year, always in Oct., inventory. However, it's usaully late in the month. I also have some old friends I haven't seen in a couple of years in St Louis so I could stop in with them then onto to LOA. As for the boat, that depends on the tow vehicle, right now I wouldn't trust my ride to get it there and back in one piece.
DaleT, I think we are planning on Oct. 11th. and 12th.

That gives everyone 7 months to make plans and I feel that is long enough.

I know it's hard to make plans that far in advance, but sometimes you have to in order to get things secured on the other end.
I attended a rec.boats Raft Up on Lake Lanier in GA a few years back - what a blast.

It's about 900 trailer miles for me to LotO...and even though we don't fish, the Admiral and I will probably stop by. We always sleep aboard so no accomodations necessary, but would appreciate local knowledge for a marina/ramp where we can safely leave the truck/trailer for a couple days while we're out on the water. Also need a friendly, floating dock that will allow me to get my wife aboard -- she has a hitch in her getalong.

How about some GPS coordinates?

And speaking of rendesvous',...anyone planning on going to the Dania Flea Market next month.

http://www.albehrendt.com/dmfm.htm
miloman, I don't know about everyone else, but this fat cat is going to be at LOA on Oct. 11th. and 12th.

Probally will get there on the 10th.
Nick in Spartanburg, SC .. Thank you SIR, for the reminder... I darn near forgot about the Dania Flea Market.. Did'nt realize it was so close to that time already... wow.. Don't know what day I'll get down there...

Palm Beach Boat Show is comming up to.. (March 28-30th) I'll be there on friday to beat the weekend crowds (hopefully)...
Nick, here are some to the most popular areas I guess.

Location Latitude Longitude
Camdenton 38.0° N 92.8° W

Eldon 38.3° N 92.6° W

Gravois Mills 38.3° N 92.9° W

Lake Ozark 38.2° N 92.7° W

Osage Beach 38.1° N 92.7° W

Sunrise Beach 38.2° N 92.7° W
I agree with Admin5 that SBN had the idea and should offer the location and time.

That sounds like Lake Of The Ozarks Oct. 11-12.

Sunshine III and I will be there!
boy SBN et.al... who came up with MO. for the
destination? don't think it's near anybody is it?
would have to fly in and couldn't bring my boat.
sure would like to shake all yur hands, but would
rather go fishin' with y'all.
no promises, but gonna try.
SBN and others...not looking to hijack the thread at all but may have an alternative of interest.

Kentucky Lake is not that far from Lake of the Ozarks. I am a member of a private club on Ky. Lake...we have 10 cabins available for rental. They are old and rustic but all have indoor plumbing heat/AC, cable TV, full kitchens, and have 2 double beds. They rent for $30 to $50 bucks per night. Most have a good view of the water and all are less than 100 yds. from the covered boat docks. Slips with power are $5 per day. Docks have fish cleaning stations.

The clubhouse has room for 40 or so for get togethers...there is a large BBQ pit available & we have gas, ice, minnows, snacks etc.

The club is located on Little Bear Creek on the northern end of Ky. Lake...about two miles from the canal that connects to Lake Barkley. There are other resorts/motels within a few miles. Our club is family oriented...no alcohol IN the clubhouse. What you do in your cabin is your business. No pets....period. If this is of interest I will be glad to provide further info and can e-mail pics.

Again...not looking to stick my nose in where it does not belong. If this post offends...delete it. If interested, get back with me at jcarpen8@cs.com. We can accomodate 20-30 easily & I can arrange it.
Nick,

I've locked through at Kentucky Dam a few times...it's not something you do unless you need to. There is an annual parade of boats that starts by locking thru Barkley, going down the Cumberland River to the Ohio, down to the Tennessee River at Paducah...and then up the Tennessee to lock thru at Ky. dam into KY. lake. A round trip of almost 80 miles.

The canal that connects Ky and Barkley lakes is the northern end of the Land Between the Lakes (LBL). For those who are not familiar with it, the LBL is the strip of land between Ky and Barkley lakes. It is 170,000 acres of mostly woods with a number of developed campgrounds, boat ramps etc. You can either use these or camp anywhere you are man enough to get to. If anyone wants more info on the area, check out this link
http://www.kylake.com. You will find all the info you want regarding the area and what it has to offer.

As a side note, my club had a crappie tournament this weekend...12 boats weighed in about 150 lbs of crappie. Big fish was 1.9 lbs...a little on the small side considering the number of fish caught. The fish fry lasted about 3 hrs
