newbie here,
just purchased used force 85 hp, cleaned lower unit, added oil etc

motor is out of boat , on a stand, so im trying to start with the harness dangling or whatever.
the choke engages when i turn the key but nothing else happens.
i searched this forum and found a thread about the neutral switch below the carbs, my linkage does come
near depressing that button, is this an issue ? how to fix

and wher is the circuit breaker and or fuses? ??

Re: ignition

On my later model 120, the main fuse is on the starboard side of the block. Describe more what you're saying about the neutral safety switch. Is it not engaging? If so, yes that's a problem is will cause you to not get spark. Verify your cables are all secure to the main wiring harness and the battery. And, of course, make sure the battery is fully charged and has enough CCA to crank the engine.

Re: ignition

Actually, just to get it started you do not even need a throttle although you can use what is referred to as fast idle. But if the motor starts and idle well, it should start just by choke first and then idles. While it's idling you can go back to the motor and play with the throttle. Just make sure you do not high rev it while on muffs or worse put it in gear.

Re: ignition

Water should flow pretty quick if the hose has enough pressure????

In case??? I tape the muffs on.
Duct tape,on a dry lower.
If it doesn't have water in 30 seconds and your sure it has enough water.
Then the impeller should be changed.(I'd do it anyway)
