I have a 1971 Chrysler 55hp outboard. Model 557HC Serial 3188. I finally got it to run. I waited at least a minute and no water was coming out. The motor has not ran for a couple of years. I removed the tubing going to the thermostat and it was bone dry. By this forums post I figured it might be the Impeller or water pump not circulating the water. Shouldn't their be water at the end of the tube going to the thermostat after running. If I am correct can anyone tell me where I can get a waterpump/impeller kit from.

Re: Impeller/Waterpump

Start with just an impeller. Part number is 47-F433065-2. Cost is around $20. A new water pump body and seal is FS504060 and cost about $80. The telltale on that motor should spit water within a couple of seconds after starting. Even if the thermostat is plugged the bypass will still direct water. You really need to test this in a water tank. Water muffs don't work well on Chrysler's. If in a water tank the water needs to be at least over the cavitation plate

Hi Euro
On my parts sheet it says part no: 40065-1. I looked for the number you gave me and could not find it on iboats. Where can I find this part?

Just google the part number. You will get multiple hits. The one Iboats sells works. I just never had much luck with them.

I called Franz again, got some different, he lists a complete waterpump kit for $119. He said the the FS504060 part number is listed as NLA. So the housing is available as a kit W/impeller, housing, wear plate and gasket, but not a a single part.
