Re: Intake drain plug 4.3 GLPEFS 2001
I was back up yesterday and I took out the intake manifold plug, stuck a wire in but no water came out, even when I tilted the boat bow down. So I figure I got the water out when I took the big hose off the circulation pump. Actually to be sure, I pulled all the hoses off the front of the engine. It is definitely not a fun place for the drain to be, it's tough to get to and takes a while to take out. the easy way would be to remove the Thermostat housing for better access. Anyways, I sprayed it down with the Engine Storage spray/fogging oil that I bought and it leaves an almost waxy like coating so she is hibernating for the winter, I also changed the positive lug on the battery cable since it was pretty beat up. So my work for the spring is to get the drain plug replaced on the leg and to service the leg, gimbal and u joints and also to repaint the leg, there is quite a bit of corrosion on it so I'm going to have to do pretty much the whole thing. It'll be a 2-3 evening job that's for sure. Don, once again, thank you for your help, I'd buy you a beer if you were closer.
