Puddle I'm with you man. One man's trash as they say. Certain styles of OMC have bad designs or it was the first year or two of the design and are prone to expensive repairs. I have an '80 50 horse that has been a blessing. Runs like a champ and doesn't give me any problems even with the neglect it gets from me and the mighty Ohio. But seriously, stainless steel chain? If you are that good to your anchor your wife must be spoiled rotten. Mine just smells that way. Just kidding honey, ow, ow really honey .....

I am with you my 50 force has been great, just age has been the problem.

Re: Is it just me?

In response to the OP: No, it is obviously not just you. Unfortunately.

I also hail from this 'younger generation' (24), and I see more and more of the same trouble everyday. But I have to agree, a lot (not all, but a lot) of how people turn out is in how they were raised. And I hate to say it, but the worse they were raised they worse their own kids will be. I also have to apologize (again) to the forum for a comment I snapped off some time ago during a rant about a former job. I usually try to be very respectful, and don't usually chime in unless I've got something worth saying.

On the other hand, what is that anchor tied to PJ? I just wonder what something like that would hold? ;):p

I would be less concerned about what it would hold than how I would get it out of the water.

Re: Is it just me?

Well to all of you who know me, and for the ones that don't! Before I made my first post to find out what was the best way to find and diagnose my OB, I looked at all the threads that related to my individual issue. After I felt confident what the problem was, I ordered required parts. Being I am mechanically inclined, I Followed instructions that came with new parts. Thirty minutes later, OB was purring like it never has since day 1, saving me about a $300.00 on a $25.00 part at my local marine dealer. Even though I am not a professional marine mechanic, I have done all repairs on mine and others. I am sure that you would all agree, that iboats has a lot of valuable information for the do it yourselfer such as I and you. But with today's economy and the price of labor, most people simply can't afford to pay high prices charged for such repairs. I think Clint Eastwood said it best. A man or woman, has got to know there limitations! I am sure that if someone was to ask me how to do something, I wouldn't throw them to the wolves if I couldn't answer there questions. Some people just can't get it while others can. My job is to be of maximum service to my fellow man (or woman) if that's what you are? I don't mind helping anyone as long as they return the favor back or someone else in need of help. Anybody that tries to do brain surgery on themselves really is a complete idiot,(and there are some of us that will try) I won't waste my time with them. You can usually tell by the post that they leave. Instead, if you come across one of those, just simply move on to the next post. You may never know how much help and valuable incite you might be able to give someone! Just pass on to the next person what you have learned! Happy Boating!
