I got your PM, but will answer here.

Yes, without the impeller key, it is useless. The key may still be in the keyway on the shaft, have a look, or you may have dropped it when removing the impeller. Either way, if you cannot find it, you will need one. Dont forget to change the o ring at the top of the drive shaft, and grease the splines with marine grease. Personally I would change the impeller while you have it apart, but that is just me. You dont really know how long it has been in there, as the motor is new to you. Be sure that the housing is clean, without grooves. Same goes with the impeller housing plate. Grooves will cause issues with the cooling water. Also ensure that the intake area is clean of debris. Also, BEFORE you bolt everything back up, run compressed air, or the garden hose up the water line to ensure that it is not clogged. You dont want to bolt it all up, then have to drop it again when you are getting any flow. let us know how you do.

The empeller was like new and really flexible. I will do what you said. I did a video when I took it apart and there was no key and the empeller was off center. I wonder if the guy before me forgot to put in in???

Possible. Hopefully it did not somehow get lodged in your cooling circuit, causing the restriction you are experiencing. That is why I would flush the water line before bolting her back up.

Go to Bay City Marine on Hester st, just off of Upper James. They will have what you need.

What did the housing and plate look like?

Nice and smooth ,no scratches or lines. I honestly think the guy forgot to put it in. I'll find out tomorrow when I drop it again." Impeller" not empeller duh LOL hahaha Where do you flush from the side intake or the bottom or the top holes?

Don't have a manual, I guess I should get one. I've had so many motors that I figured there mostly the same.
