Re: Is this true?
Fly Rod, I don't drink, and can't pass that test! Never could!

This is obviously a very emotional topic! Seems like everyone agrees something should be done, but what do we do? Teaching responsibility is a tough thing to do. I agree that is what needs to be done, but there are some that just don't get it, no matter how you try, it still comes down to a personal choice.

My parents were the best parents a kid could ever have. Taugh us kids how to work, how to clean up after ourselves, how to respect authority, how to love our God and country, but in the end, it came down to a personal descision - what were we going to do with all we were taught.

Now, back to the topic, how do we best deal with people that insist on putting others in harms way by wanting to enjoy their freedoms and have a drink or two, then getting into what has now become a lethal weapon?

Although I do not drink and would not have a problem with a car that was equipped with one of these gizmos, I do not think that I should bear the expense. Okay, so do we charge the alcohol manufacturers? Is it their fault that people abuse the priviledges they are given? I don't think so?

Now, let's say we make every one that is convicted of DUI buy one of these. Do they come in for regular tests to make sure they are working? What is the person borrows someone else's car? What if it was the first time they ever drove drunk? What if, what if. Man, there are a lot of what if's?

Not really any clear cut answers to me, but that doesn't mean we should stop trying. In the meanwhile, if you see someone driving under the influence, report them - or as someone said earlier, follow them home and beat them like a redheaded step-shild. Well, I don't know about that, but beat them!
