I am looking for a repaire manuael as well as parts for a JW 16. It is complete even down to the little rubber cover over the prop nut. It runs great after a carb rebuild but, I would like to buy another carb kit, tune up kit, water pump, thermostat, rings, and gaskets, and coils so that I will have them on hand.
Also was wondering what this motor in this condition would be worth.

Well, all your ignition system parts are available, anywhere that OMC parts are sold, including here.

Waterpump parts should be the same as above.

Thermostat......well there is none.

Rings....well, you might try Sea-Way Marine, Engine Blade and Prop, marineengine.com or even here.

What's it worth? Well, probably more to you, than anyone else. The current economic situations leaves a lot to be desired, as far as finding value in outboard motors, unless it's something that people really want. The average fisherman, won't even take a second look at a motor that's 51 years old. They all want something that's less than ten years old for 50 bucks. And very few even have enough brain cells to keep up the maintenance on them, so their motors often times fail.

Now, here in iboats, there are a lot of good guys with a lot of wits, who will give you good advice on gettin that old gem tuned up right and making it run nice. Whatever it's worth after your efforts? Well, that will depend on what your market will bear.

Ahoy, tchild.

Welcome to iboats. :)

A JW Johnny (and Evinrude Lightwin) is the best outboard ever made. With TLC, 51 years is hardly broken in.

Don't be in too much of a hurry to rebuild/replace stuff. Compression should be over 60psi and both cylinders within 10%, fuel mix 24:1, plugs either Champion J4C or J6C gapped at .030". Points .020".

Reprint of the OEM Service Manual can be had from www.outboardbooks.com.

You can get about anything else you need here at iboats. . .from parts to great advice.

People who know the model treasure it, people who don't, don't deserve it. Don't think about selling it. . .you would never get what it is truly worth.
