I would think so. Here in Wisconsin it is now 10:53 pm and it looks like you posted this 30 minutes ago.

We'll work around the time difference for sure.

I had a look and the plate isn't there anymore. The number on the silver round thing has A0674006.

That will make it a bit more difficult. My 60 has the model number stamped in it along with a part number.

Doing a quick search of cowl decals yours looks to be a 1981 50hp. There are 2 models listed. J50BELCIC and J50BECIC. The 1st one will be for a long shaft model. Don't know if this will help but it's something.

Hopefully if I need to order parts they will be able to match up part numbers that are on the old one.

Re: johnson seahorse 50hp throttle lever

burnsie the parts on those old 2 cylinder engines were used on many models for many years. I would use the 1981 as a good baseline to refereance any parts.

As to pulling the flywheel, either a good puller or loosen up the nut to the top and rap it with a good deadblow hammer. A good puller would be the better solution.

This is sounding more like some type of linkage problem inside the engine. Sorry but even as good as they are the OMC manuals don't cover unusual things like this. LMK what you find.

Re: johnson seahorse 50hp throttle lever

alright ive given up on the movie ill try to descripe it.

In the pictures below shows a lever which runs off the top of the throttle arm up to something that sits under the flywheel. When pushing the throttle arm with that lever on its extremely hard and when let go it springs back very quickly. If that lever is taken off the throttle arm moves very easily. What does that lever connect to? if the fly wheel is spinning ie motor running, will that affect it?

Also does anyone have a schmatic of the motor which shows what parts are actually called? might make it easy for people to understand what im saying if i can name the parts correctly haha

thanks for your time guys its really appreciated!

That thing it moves is your timing base, it advances the ignition timing by rotating a sensor plate under the flywheel
That lever has a heavy duty spring in it so seems like its working..
My motor like this never goes quite back to the stop properly too- worn cable, doesnt bother me or it anything noticeable

His problem seems to be that it will not hold a forward speed and the shift/throttle lever keeps returning to neutral.

Cant say ive run into that before, ive never encountered a spring in the controls.
Maybe the friction adjuster needs tightening

I suggested that to him this morning so we'll see. The OP is on your side of the world Down Under in Australia! Don't quite know what the time difference is between there and U.S. A. Wisconsin.

7.50 am now here, almost work time. And late autumn!
Depending where OP is in Australias he either at 550am on the East Coast (Sydney etc) too 3.50am in far western Perth

Wisconsin Central was owner of our railway network not long ago.
Unfortunately they never sent any of the double stacking low container riding wagons over

Yep defunked, bought out by Canadian National CN which is in competition with Canadian Pacific (CP).

CP runs on lines to the south and mid Wisconsin where as CN is up to the north of Wisconsin (from looking at their route lines )
