LOL - ya' have to be a little crazy to be a Stringer owner. Part out that drive and you'll make your money back in spades. If it all runs well, give her a whirl on the water. I actually really like the drive even with all it's peculiarities.I already dont like it.......
Just bought a boat in the 70's with a 165 omc in it. I bought it for the trailer. The guy told me it runs problem is...... How do you hook it to a hose? Figured if it runs someone might need the engine.
I already dont like it.......
Before you go out and buy a new truck with the hopeful profits from parting that out, I will caution you.
people have things LISTED for high prices on Ebay, that doesnt necessarily mean they are selling for those prices. I have several parts at reasonable prices listed on there and some months they dont even get 10 views, And I am not selling the obscure things either. I have ball gears, and shift springs that have been listed for months, and you can forget about getting 800 bucks for that vertical driveshaft.
like said above, they are not the desired drive and there are less and less peeps willing to work with them.
yes, if you throw on some ball gears for 20 bucks they will be gone, but dont think you will be getting the prices listed on some websites.
that manifold will probably go fast though
it looks like you hooked the garden hose to the water pump heater connection, not tee'd into the thermostat housing. I doubt your impeller was getting water that way. You want to change the impeller on any used boat anyway, but I suspect it's pretty melted. Maybe not. Doesn't much matter if you are parting it. Anyone buying the drive will throw a new impeller in.I hooked up the water like Howard suggested
I would imagine I could get a 300 or 400 for the engine. and a couple hundred for the outdrive.
