Not that it has any relevance to the thread, but Kerry always reminded me of Pokies friend, Gumby.

Hmmmm. Good stuff since GWB started taking the buck for everything and getting credit for nothing.

*Market recovered (due to tax cut).
*What was left of my savings after dot com, Enron, etc has grown.
*Market value of The Hideout has grown.
*Economy recovered (due to tax cut).
*My taxes went down (that must mean I am rich. :) )
*Taliban government is history.
*Women are human beings in Afghanistan for the first time in generations.
*Saddam is history.
*Iraqis have the opportunity for self government.
*No inflation.
*Lowest unemployment in years.
*Lowest interest rates in years.
*Even poor people are owning homes for the first time EVER.
*Many of my elderly friends got real help with medicine costs.
*Al Gore is not President.
*John Kerry is not President.
*We have two new Supreme Court Justices who place the Constitution and the law above public passions.

For those who have lived through the last 50-60 years in this country all of the above are very important.

Don't forget, the last election was the largest turn out in history.

ee, your ignorance and narrow mindedness is never very far from your remarks. You do not have the ability to comprehend that one might actually like to consider what others see or believe.

JB, Although I am obviously not in agreement on several of your remarks I appreciate you sharing them. That way any debate can be addressed at the issues rather than simply based on what we see as liberal or conservative dah duh dah. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Let us try it this way!

Well, I remembered a couple that I left out:

Our "Conservative Republican, hates minorities" President has:

* Had the first two National Security Advisors and Secretaries Of State of African descent and a Cabinet and staff loaded with minorities and women.

* Proposed legislation to offer 5 years probation to qualified illegal immigrants who plead guilty, pay a fine, work, abide by the laws and pay taxes for five years, then apply, in their turn, for citizenship. Like any other petty criminals, if they don't meet the terms of the program, out (or in the slammer) they go. Radical Conservatives call it amnesty, radical Liberals call it harsh. Neither have a realistic alternative.

Yup. He must really hate minorities and the downtrodden.

I would be disappointed if you and I agreed on all of these items, txs. I am pleased if we agree on any. :)

I always assumed you were Dem... I'm one of those too (southern democrat disenfranchised after Vietnam and after we fought so hard for equal rights).
After leaving the dem party in 1980-somethin, I have found more integrety within the rep party. It's far from perfect tho. My personal vision of "Perfect" would be a modicum of practicing what they preach AFTER they are elected too....Very few do, but it's still better than the alternativbes. Sorry for digressing....
JB, that was a great list!

More good things that have been done by GWB and his admin:
Energy exploration: Whereas it still falls short of what should be done, he has gotten out of the way. The Bureau of Land Management's top priority while GWB has been in office, has been to process the backlog of applications for drilling permits and gas leases left behind by his predicessor's bunch, who were affraid to allianate their kook base. Many more have been approved.

Foriegn policy: While i am and have been critical of some of the decisions made by the Bush admin regarding foriegn policy, in retrospect THEY WERE BRILIANT!
Thru diplomatic channels, we have an unbreakable alliance now with India....This one country (the largest democracy on the pannet bar nnone), is helping greatly to stabilize her crackpot nieghborhood. This inseperable bond is probably as important as defeating terrorism and establishing a soveriegn Iraq, to STABILITY.

Given these achievments (which are often ignored or poo-pooed by the left and it's media propagana machine), Iran is in trouble as far as dictating the politics of the region by insergent Iraqi warfare and WMD threats and "strongarming" the west thru oil sanctioning. I'll never forgive or forgewt Iran for the embargo.

Iran best watch it's P's n Q's when faced with a coalition comprised of democrcies surounding it's little backwater kingdom.

Self-edited, I rethought my comments and decided not to stoop to Mr. tx's level.

Re: Let us try it this way!

Pointer, Pointer, Pointer, you’re at it again!! You throw WAY too much info out there hoping that everyone will just pass it by and think what a great post (right QC) it was. But, like Global Warming, you just can’t get it right! :p

Pointer said:

We also are not looking to assign blame for things that are clearly out of the presidents realm of control. Like say AT&T reaquiring its spun off subdivisions, or oil prices, or hurricanes, or terrorists, or misinformation/misinterpretation or lack of understanding regarding the war, or theories about man creating a warming of the planet or myriad other examples.
First, the Right tried to assign blame for everything on Clinton when he was in office. The economy was GREAT, inflation low, unemployment was VERY low. Clinton left office with over a 60% approval rating.
We don’t blame Bush for hurricanes, just his lack of response to them. Yes, there is blame to go around, but most of it should be on the Federal Government. What misinformation/misinterpretation is there about the war? It’s all been pretty much documented. Bush cherry picked the evidence and he had more intelligence then the Congress did.

Pointer said:
We are not interested in playing second fiddle to second rate socialistic has been countries like France.
One of the reasons my wife (conservative) doesn’t like France is because she say’s that they are arrogant. Sounds like you are, too, Pointer. :D :p

Pointer said:
We support our troops with our voices and actions regardless of how we feel about the war.
So do I and all Democrats and Progressives! To say different is just a bunch of BS!!! I was in the Marine Corp back when we lost 220 Marines, 18 Navy personnel, and 3 Army soldiers in Lebanon, so don’t you or anyone else ever tell me that I don’t support the Troops!!!

Pointer said:
We don't expect a limited government to be involved in redistribution of wealth.
You better hope that they are. If not, we will become another 3rd world country with little or no middle class. The progressive tax and Inheritance tax were put in place so that the accumulation of wealth would not create power centers of wealth, like we are creating today. Today, 1% of the people own 65% of the wealth in this country! Now, without a more progressive tax system and the Inheritance tax, that will surely go up. When that happens, how much opportunity do you think there will be for the little guy to succeed in America?

Pointer said:
We don't expect the police to protect and serve but to enforce the law.
Sorry, but that is idiotic. They are here to do all of that. Can’t say anymore.

Pointer said:
We think most things are better run by private interests than by government beaurorocacies.
Turning things over to the private sector is great for true Capitalism, but we are not a true Capitalistic society. How about all the private sector jobs that WE are paying for in Iraq and Afghanistan? Paying cooks and people in support roles $70,000 – 100,000 dollars a year!!! Why not send over more troops to do the same thing at a much lower cost? I know that doesn’t sit right with a lot of people, but it would save tons of money.

There was a city (Rush City?) in Minnesota that had a private company build and run a state prison after much support from local MN. Republicans. They thought that they would save money. Not true. First, when they built the prison, they used plain old cinder blocks!!! When the state builds a prison, it puts in rebar and fills in the holes with concrete. Then, all medical expenses were not part of the contract, so we paid for that. Plus, anytime a prisoner had to go to court (all the time), that again wasn’t covered in the contract. So, we had to supply guards to transport them to court (or the hospital). After adding all that into how much it cost to run a prison, the state actually ran it cheaper then the private company!! I’m sure we can both come up with more examples, but my point is to show you that it isn’t black and white when it comes to Government or Private Bureaucracies.

Pointer said:
We think that reading, writing and arithmatic is what the school system is to teach.
What about “Intelligent Design” and prayer in public schools?!?!

Sorry, Pointer, again, you’re going to have to do better then that!
;) :p :p :D
