Unless maybe there's something I'm missing about fishing boats...? When I think fishing boats, I think wood seats in an aluminum hull. No steering wheel. Not conducive to social hour lol

The Starcraft, although described as a "fishing" boat in the ad, is the "Super Sport" or SS model and is more like what's called nowadays a "fish&ski" boat, with upholstered back-to-back seats, steering wheel, walk-thru windshield, bow platform and it can accomodate 6 persons without problem for cruising around. There's a few there (those are the resto threads)!

I guess that was a pretty stupid assumption of mine. I'd LOVE a setup like yours, ezmobee.

I keep going back to that Sea Sprite. I just wish I could get up there this weekend but there's no way. And we're supposed to get snow/ice/etc. We've already got a couple branches down at our house. I just hope that we've still got electricity and a house when I go home. Do you suppose there'd be anybody in the Minneapolis area that would be willing to take a look at it for me? It just seems so clean and would mesh pretty well with what I'm looking for. And at that price!? Here's the one I'm talking about again: 1972 Sea Sprite 17'

As to the pontoon idea, at least here at the dozens of ramps I use there is a reason I've seen one trailerd pontoon the last couple years. They suck as trailer boats and holy crap good luck parking your truck with a long pontoon trailer. Even the absolute most pristine launches here have spots that are too small. Remember I mentioned most of our boats in MN are under 20 feet. Your ramps may be different but something to consider. There's folks that swear by pontoons as trailer boats I've seen on here but while practical on water, it couldn't be further from the truth when trailering.

That Sea Sprite really looks like a winner. I think that's a non-electric shift '73 Evinrude not only because of the hood decals I looked at early, but looking now I see 2 control cables going to it which wouldn't be the case on a '72 electric shifter. Good motor. There's easily $1300 worth of stuff there. I suppose worst case would be it's rotted but it appears to have been cared for.

... at $1,300 if you're able to boat two seasons on it before anything major breaks you'll have gotten your money out of it. It's one of the better "gambles" I've seen. Definately worth a close look.

I looked at CL in Sioux City, Sioux Falls and Omaha late last night and didn't see much. There was one small pontoon, but it looked a little iffy to me.

Re: Looking at a boat...

Sorry guys, been a little busy cleaning up tree branches. Haven't had power, so no internet and no charging my phone. Power came back on overnight and luckily I'd put my phone on the charger just in case so it's fully charged. Power's back off, though. Oh, South Dakota in the spring. 80 degrees last year, ultra damage inducing ice storm this year. Luckily, we just have a power line down in our back yard (been letting the dog out on a flexi-lead anyways, just in case a branch were to fall), a damaged fence, to trees that are probably a total loss, and a ton of branches down. I would post pictures, but I don't know how hahahaha!

Anyways, I think I'm going to hold off at least until we get a chance to clean up the 6-10" we're supposed to get today and tomorrow. I probably won't really be ready to look again until next weekend, by the time we get everything cleaned up and going back to normal.

Sorry to tell you, this is not a late winter storm.
This is an early fall storm.
No more boat shopping, time to look for a snowmobile.

Parts of MN are in for a foot plus of snow today through tomorrow. We will skirt it with maybe 6. I can't believe it was 80 degrees in NYC yesterday.
