Re: Looking for a used Cadillac

Looking for a 2000-2002-ish Seville or De Ville. I see them in the $3000 range with fairly low mileage .

I know the Northstars like to drink oil, anyone have any more info to look out for?

I know with the Seville, the STS is a bit mroe sporty than the SLS, and they have 25 more HP, but the SLS has higher torque and better gearing for MPG's.

You can also buy them at the price of 2,800-2,900 bucks if you are wise I just want to

EDIT: Soliciting, including links to ads, is forbidden, eldercaddy.

Re: Looking for a used Cadillac

I'm going to take a chance on it, the price is right. Everything worked except the radio and the LR window wouldn't go up or down, but a brand new actuator is in the box in the trunk. Some small dings but drove nice, no over heating, no leaking.

Scrambler here's the VIN,
1G6KD54Y24U256362
I did run a carfax, nothing major, 2 collisions years back(05 and 06). One was with a bicycle

No way. I think my exact words we're smart consumer. :p

No finance charges, no extended warranties, no paint sealer, no
bull sh*t, you probably paid cash for a 7 yr. old car that will do
everything that $35,000 new one will do = smart consumer. :D

Thanks! And these cars were closer to $50K new  Amazing how they do not hold value.

Not that amazing. Cadillacs never hold their value. For good reason.

I'll agree with that... I've seen some electrical issues in Caddy's that were an absolute nightmare! I wouldn't have one, but that's just me.

On a positive note, most Caddy owners are blue-hairs and don't really abuse the vehicles.

None of the "luxury" cars hold their value, Caddies, Lincolns, Beemers, Jags, you can buy 5-10 year old models at a mere fraction of there initial cost.
I laugh at people who buy my vehicles first and take the huge depreciation hit.

Can't wait to pick up the new ride tomorrow. My back will thank me, as my 3/4 ton diesel pickup, riding around inner city Baltimore every day for my business is rough! Plus it's a long bed quad cab, fun to park

You shouldn't laugh... you should be grateful people like me buy new ones and trade them every couple years. After all, if it wasn't for people like me, you wouldn't have anything to drive. ;)

Good luck with your Caddy

Yes, I am glad I know the value of a dollar better than you do! :p
I look at it this way, instead of buying a new car, I buy another rental property that pays me!

And thanks for the well wishes :D

LOL

As WC Fields said, their's a sucker born every minute. :p

Buying a "new" car is a total rip-off. Buying one that is one
or two years old with low mileage you save thousands and
still get that new car smell . :)

Re: Looking for a used Cadillac

Never updated the thread. She's a nice ride! Got her inspected. Needs a LF wheel bearing, LF CV boot(I'll just replace the whole axle), rear shocks, and tires. Luckily I have a friend who passed me anyway. He is getting my parts for me cheap. He's going to fix it all for $500 including the parts(except for the tires). He said the tint was too dark but IF I get pulled over for it to say I installed it after it was inspected.
The stereo does not work but I think it's a data wire.

Loving it so far, it gets up and scoots when you want it too, nice exhaust sound, heated seats are awesome!
