I live in Texas, and dont plan to live anywhere else, except possibly Florida. (Tampa/st.pete/desoto area)

I live inland in texas, but I make at least 10-12 coastal trips every year, and do a good deal of saltwater fishing. I also fish several local reservoirs, rarely a river.

I just bought my very first bought, a 1968 chrysler w/a 65hp. I intend to keep this for about a year, just to get into the whole maintenance/proper care aspect of owning/operating a boat. Then, I was planning on financing a new, or newly used boat, until I came upon these Do-it-yourself boat plans. These boats turn out awesome, and I am ALL ABOUT doing things on my own. I just finished a 3yr 1966 ford mustang restoration where I did all of the work myself, starting when I was 15yrs old.

My reason for posting is that I am trying to find a good plan for a boat that fits into my application. Strictly flats/bay when in saltwater, shallow water. And occassional freshwater in lakes.

Here's what I've been looking at:
http://www.bateau.com/plans/power/PH18.php3
http://www.bateau.com/plans/power/OD18.php3

I think the phantom would be a better choice for my application considering the shallow water use.
However, maybe you know a better set of Boat Plans that you could refer me to.

If so, please let me know!
Thanks!
Shawn
