Maggot trouble, HELP

I'm in soooo much trouble if Mrs RPJS finds out what I've done.
I managed to trip while carrying my maggot bait box and spilt 2 pints of Bluebottle maggots all over the kitchen floor. I've vacuumed all I can find but I've only got about 1 1/2 pints up, the little buggers have obviously got under the kitchen units etc.
Anybody got any good methods of killing them before they hatch.
Fortunatly the wife is working away for 2 days so I have to Thursday evening to get this sorted.

Re: Maggot trouble, HELP

Have you tried negotiating with them?
Maybe if you offer favorable terms they will surrender.....:):)

Place a dead animal under the kitchen units. This will attract the maggots. Thursday before the Mrs gets home, remove the dead animal with the maggots attached.

Hey RPJS, DO NOT USE ANY POISON in your kitchen! Just look for all of them, Get out a powerfull shop vac for cracks n' stuff. Then if any do hatch blame it on Me Bro! Or someone else cornvenient, tongue in cheek. Just admit it and take the punishment! Good Luck JR Edit: Rickster has a great idea, (I would use bloody ground beef, not a dead animal which could have other pests on the carcus)

Not an option, she WILL kill me, there is a total ban on me having any bait but especialy maggots in the house.

I can't get to them with the vacuum without ripping the kitchen apart.

Maybe some bleach in a squirt bottle? And she might even think you cleaned if she can smell the bleach!

BE CAREFUL!!! If you use a WMD (weapon of maggot destruction) you might have NATO personnel crawling all over your home which then could lead to a full scale invasion. :^

Act dumb and ask,"Honey, where did these maggots come from?"

Re: Maggot trouble, HELP

I have a very powerfull Vac here at the store that cost less then: $100 at Home Depot. I hope the meat works by Thursday, (let it ripen which will make the house smell), but I repeat: DO NOT USE POISON. Depending on how serious you are about the wife killin' ya, pry the moldings off carefully and vac the cracks up. I think your gonna get it as you don't have enough time to recover. So ya better invite a friend over, (Bro Haut would be a li'l spendy, n' he wants to go to Paris real bad), hint: a friend who doesn't depend on the wifes' good side n' all, ('cause this friend is history if ya use me plan). Have the friend intentionally spill some maggots n' then ya have a true story, (leave out some of it 'course). Hope ya have an expendable friend! Good luck. JR ps This message will self distruct Wednesday nite! Eric has a potential idea with bleach but: the dead bugs may smell.

Get some 20 Mule Team Borax and dust under the counter with it. It's safe around food and smells ok.

I think that the maggots will dry out and die on their own, don't they have to be kept moist?

What would happen if you hit them with fine ground (Popcorn) salt?

Probably die on their own if not moist. They can't live long dry.

Toss some polished rice around 'em and when your wife finds them she will just think somebody got sloppy making dinner. She'll sweep 'em up and put them in the stew maybe.

LOL @ Bob

Well I've busted the kicker boards off the units and vacuumed all I could see and get to, I rang my fishing buddie who after he had picked himself up off the floor laughing sugested boiling water, so I'm going to splash a bit of that around and then go with the bleach.
I did suggest OMR's idea to my buddie. His reply can't be posted here.

Never fished with maggots before. Aren't those little rascals kinda hard to get on the hook?
