That engine loves and needs RPM's to perform. I think you have that figured out.

The engine is pretty much bulletproof if maintained and kept in tune.

The only weak point is the timing belt. It is easy and cheap to change.

Jake, glad you got some trouble-free boating in for the $167 :)

If the tach is accurate I would be worried about lugging when using the 17p when loaded and/or towing. The 4100-4200 for top WOT rpm is low, just a caution.

Sorry, left this part out, the top RPM range for that engine is 5200-5600.

How can I confirm the tach? If it is accurate, I'm still not getting past 4800 so would I have to go even lower in the pitch than 15?
