You left out excessive humidity and the Florida state bird, the mosquito.

Humidity and mosquitos not a problem with me.......but what I did leave out regarding weather are the hurricanes. I could name a few. This place isn't for everybody and I wish some would go home. All in jest.

Now if you want to talk about something other than weather, I could make out a list, and it would start with all the crazy (even more than me) folks we have around here. God shook the earth and all couldn't hang on landed here in Flori-duh. Gotta love it!

God Bless Us.

People in Oregon/Washington don't tan. They rust. Last year, 218 kids fell off their bicycles and drowned. Insert smilie here

Foodfisher- we drink Rustoelum with breakfast, so we should be ok. It would be a pretty big change going from L.A. County to rainville. I wonder, does ever just walk around with their water wings on?

I've never been to Florida, but we've got a lot of people that help on when the earth was shaken. I used to live in Fresno, which is about 3 hours north of L.A. My wife and I think that if God were to give the world an enema that's where He'd stick the tube.

Example: Chino Hills (never been there, just a challenge)
Record high.....113F
Record low......21F
Today....?....55F

Miami/Ft Lauderdale
Record high....99F
Record low.....28F
Today......72F
Missed this yesterday . . . I have to admit that those stats paint an interesting picture, but you have to know that those highs are very short, maybe two days a summer, but generally speaking we have average lows of high 50s every summer night. It is amazing how little I use AC and most older homes don't even have AC and none need it by the water. If we do run the AC, we can shut it off around 5:00 PM every afternoon and the onshore breeze just takes over.

With that said, I love Ft. Lauderdale. Basically I like anywhere with a marina . . . Speaking of marinas, this is how it looks from an LA area Marina today (if shot with a Telephoto lens). By the angle and look I think this is Huntington Harbor. Not sure though.

What we don't have here is river or channel type boating. No Intercoastal and no river to the sea boating like say Sacramento. This is one of the things I like about Perth. But with Perth or Fl, where'd your mountains go? FWIW, you can get this snow capped mountain view way offshore, and I can see ships and the Queen Mary in Long Beach Harbor from one of the ski areas to the right (east) of that tallest mountain (Mt. Baldy AKA Mt. San Antonio, 10,080 ft.)

You left out excessive humidity and the Florida state bird, the mosquito.

Last Super Bowl Sunday I show shoed up in the local mountains in the morning and was drinking a beer around the pool in 70 degree weather in the afternoon. Not many places you can do that in February.
