Marine Battery for Truck

I seem to have had a run of bad luck with Batteries lately. First accidentily drained my boat battery and now my truck battery went dead.

As the story Goes. We were at the Boat ramp preping for launch. During this time I have the Truck not running. Went to Start the Truck and nothing. Someone tried to Jump start me but the battery was too dead.

So I pulled a Marine battery out of the boat and used it to start the Truck. I have two marine batteries. Truck started fine and we had a great day of boating.

I'm still using the Marine battery and will purchase a truck replacement battery today. So my question is. Am I causing any damage to my Marine battery using it in my truck for a couple of days? Its a Marine Starter battery if that makes any difference.
What is the difference between a Marine Starter battery and an Auto Battery in simple terms?

Thanks.

Your boat batty will be just fine in your truck i understand the only diff between a marine starting batt and and a batt for a car/truck. is that the construction of the marine batt is more durable. The lead plates are able to withstand the smashin-crashn of the marine environment without breaking apart.

Thanks for the Reply. Makes me feel better that I'm not wrecking my Marine battery.

The marine battery is built to withstand the rigors of life in a boat such as being tilted and subjected to more vibration. The electricity it provides is the same as a car battery.

I used a Nautilus 1000CCA in my Maxima for 6 years before it gave up the ghost...

Its very likely the internal construction is even the same... Vehicles experience far more high frequency vibration (washboard gravel road), a boat is much more low frequency (smashing into waves). High frequency vibration is actually far more likely to damage a battery.

I was thinking the Alternator on the Truck might damage the boat battery but isn't vehicle alternators and boat alternators pretty much the same?

Hmmmmmm.... Dat dont make sense to me. I M H O... A bunch of lead plates, stacked side by side, would bust loose alot easier with one ,as you put it, low freq wave impact, then a bunch of road vibrations. In a road vehicle the chassis, and batt is protected by shock absorbers and springs etc. My boat doesnt have any of that.

Thank you Kevin.

I get a Kick out of the size of your boat. Makes your truck look tiny.

Looks like a Ford 250 or 350. The Picture looks Stretched so the boat looks to be 50ft. LOL
