I am working on 1984 mercruiser 120 I believe it has the oldstyle fuelpump. question is do they have a fuel filter inside the pump or is the water fuel separator and the filter at the carb the only ones. I just got thru installing a new head gasket on it and seems to work great.{thanks for all the help and advise } . The problem Im having and it was there before the head gasket change, is that it will run fine all the time with the throatle at half or a little better than half but when I go to full throatle for an extended time like about 4 or 5 minutes it will fall on its face back to idle until I pull the throatle back and nurse it back to full again and will run fine at wot for 4 or 5 minutes again and then starts all over. it seems to me its starving for fuel at wot . filters are new at the carb and separator. does this sound like a dirty filter or maybe water in the fuel or even maybe a weak fuel pump. any ideas??
