Ok today I was out test driving after installing a new coil. Think (hoping) I got the engine squared away as it ran like a champ today.
Well the trim is sucking a lot of power and making the outdrive faulter at higher RPMs, so I was messing with the trim today in the middle of the bay and just checking somethings when I was just sitting at idle, I had trimmed it almost all of the way up. Engine started.
I heard something and when going to investigate it I went and stood on the swim deck and the out drive sounded like something was inside and was vibrating very bad. I know its hard to explain sounds online but thats what it really sounded like.
I stuck my hand down and held the prop, nope not that prop, zincs and a couple different things on the out side of the out drive seeing if something had come loose. Couldnt find anything that made it stop.
If I put the drive down it went away, unless it was because I couldnt hear it anymore cause the drive was under water but It was loud engouh I would think I would have heard it.
I turned the engine off then back on and it was still there if I put the drive up. I started driving slow for about 10 mins then stopped, put it in idle and checked and no noise now.
So I start back up and Im about 1 mile from the no wake part that goes back to my dock. I get up on plane and right before I open the secondaries I hear a loud half bang half ping.
I know it wasnt but it almost sounded like something shot up out of the intake and hit the flame arrestor. I checked and there wasnt a mark on the inside of the flame arrestor and nothing in there or the carb. I dunno what it was.
I made it all the way to the dock and when I got there put the drive most the way up while the engine was running and there was no ratttling sound. Sounded normal.
Anyways the boat ran great still and the outdrive noise is unknown. There was no slipping of gear or slamming into gear, or anything like that. The boat is actually running so great right now besides the trim pump sucking so much juice. I really hope this isnt the start of something bad for me and good for SEI. lol
