What do the letters after the model number mean? The one I have is model 565 however the prop replacement guides list different letters after the model number (565T/W/N/M/MX) serial number is MK00147225. Best I can figure is I need an MKP-3 replacement prop

Re: Minn Kota designations

My catalog does not cover motors that old but an MPK-3 was a translucent prop called a Vanishing Prop. Is that what you had? If not, then you really need to get the complete model number off the motor. Should be listed on the same label as the serial number. If you don't have that, then you need to measure the diameter (not the circumference) of the motor. That will help as my catalog shows motor diameters from about 2002 on up.

The Model 565 N and T take an MKP-2. The Model 565 T and TA take an MKP-6. My charts don't show the other codes. Cabela's and Bass Pro don't even show the MKP-3 any longer. But I'm wondering if the MKP-32 and MKP-33 are not replacements for the older motors.

I think it is a vanishing prop. Theres about half of the old one left and thats what it looks to be. The blade is see through and the distance from the nut to the motor is deeper than the mk7 i had to compare with

Sounds like the MKP-3 is what you need then.

Did you ever find out what the suffix letter after the 565 stands for?
I also have an older Minn Kota 565W that takes MKP-3 (3 1/4 inch prop with prop nut A). Is there any other model prop that would work with your motor?
Thanks

Re: Minn Kota designations

I e-mailed Minn Kota and got a prompt and courteous reply.
serial number is to old to ID. Perhaps the different suffix letters indicate specific applications.(?) Silvertip added the following info "The Model 565 N and T take an MKP-2. The Model 565 T and TA take an MKP-6" in a previous post.

Hey yrsouth, I also need a replacement prop for my 565, but I can't find a serial number anywhere. Where is yours located?

Re: Minn Kota designations

I happen to run across this forum, this is my first posting and I hope I'm doing it right. It is a coincidence that I just came home from Martin Marine in Mesa Az.where I purchased a replacement prop for my minn kota 565w. The prop no. 2061151 and the item no. 1378211 is what is being used at Martin Marine. I'm not sure who manufactured this prop; but Minn Kota themselves referred me to this place. Minn Kota also had the prop they called it the MKP3 for 12.95 plus 9.95 shipping. I paid 14.98 plus tax at Martins. I hope this helps.

This post was two years old so I'm sure he as found the right prop. Being new, always look at the date of the original post (not the date the OP joined).
