sorry replied before it loaded, oops! Those look like johnson/evinrude shipmaster controls. I have the same ones on my 1985, or very similar. Please post the model and serial # for us so we can get your oil ratio right.

Re: my new to me evinrude

you can get new throttle and shift cables right here at iboats. Be sure you keep the fittings on the motor end of the current cables as you will need to reuse them. Running 24:1 (5.5 fl. oz. of oil to 1 gal. of 87 octane gas) mix with Champion J6C plugs is going to be your best bet. Some of the models from the mid-late 60's ran 50:1, but these old motors rely on the oil for all of their internal lubrication, so it's always good to err on the side of caution. I run 24:1 in my '66 20 hp and while it does smoke in the tank, it makes virtually no smoke while on the open water, plus I can always add straight gas to it in a pinch and be within a safe mix range.

Maybe try restating your question. I've lost track of what exactly you are trying to do and I'm sure my short attention span is typical of people who skim these forums. (It's only worth my time to reread all of the past posts if it helps me solve my problem, at least that's the way the world of online help tends to work).

the numbers for the control box will hopefully be INSIDE the box, be careful opening it .

the motor numbers should be stamped on the transom bracket usually on the port side, it will be a plates attached to it
