I always assume that we should leave things as we found them, and that includes the earth. We simply have historically understated the cost of doing what we've been doing, by not including the rehab cost.<br />
It's only a no-brainer to "spend what it takes" if it's somebody else's money.<br /><br /><br /> It should be a no-brainer to spend what it takes to limit as much as possible our impact on the environment on general principle. <br />
While I'm not prepared to dispute that point in this particular case, I feel compelled to point out that it's not a universal truth. We don't wash a disposable diaper before throwing it out.<br /> We ought not to need a specific reason to clean up after ourselves.
