hi everyone . will a gm . ford , or chrysler 15 inch rim fit a calkins trailor ? i would like to replace the 14 inch rims and put on 15 inch rims . thanks .
I do suggest getting new rims. Buying used rims is a gamble that isn't worth the price difference. You have no idea what abuse a used rim has gone through. New rims are cheap
It also depends on what you want to do. For matching wheels to your tow vehicle you may need to use non trailer rims, if you just want new rims, then price tire and wheel combos.
Yes...have seen that myself as well. Way back when, bought a wheel for the spare...fortunately, did realize that the hole was too small in the new rim before we actaully needed it.
Car wheels and trailer wheels are not made the same. Trailer wheels have zero offset meaning the hub is directly in the center of the tire tread looking down on the wheel. Rear wheel drive wheels have the hub offset toward the back of the wheel while front wheel drive cars have the hub offset to the outside of the wheel. The point here is that the offset may cause tire to frame or tire to fender interference. Additionally, the taper on lug nuts may not be the same since metric dimensions have steadily crept into car designs. A wrong lug nut means a lost wheel. Because it fits does not mean it works.
