Next is the steering, the cable setup looks like its made for a threw the motors clamp. I have a 1967 Evinrude 80hp and its clamp does not allow for this. What to do about that? Am I going to have to get a more modern motor or replace the whole steering? help.....0125121416.jpg

First pic - no. Just a POs way of mounting the transducer.

Second pic is a support for a flexible wooden slat that keeps the boat cover from collecting water. It's a system that is only good for water. Ice/snow weigh the cover down and push the slats down making a nice pool.

They are brakets to hold a fiberglass or wood "bow" to hold a boat cover up for rain drainage.
That makes sense, I was kinda hoping someone would say ultra rare cannon mounting brackets. Thanks!

Pic 2 is an ultra rare cannon mounting bracket.

On your steering can you back up a bit to show more. Ya got too close to see the steering system.

Iv seen a lot of 16 SS boats and thats new to me mabey I will learn something also. The steering will have to hafe a stern brakket to allow you to connect to the motor with an attaschment Like a quick release I think .

10 cool points for GA on that super awesome response:cool:

You know we try to keep Tin Heads happy. Rayzor was hoping for that so..... LOL

Yes on the steering pic, Rayzor. Now do you have one of the transom mount for the motor? What I'm looking for is what's called a tilt tube. You can do what Pugetsound said about the bracket, but lets see what you have first.

Re: Need a few things answered about my SS 16

You just posted a pic of your stern bracket. If the motor and boat were together there should be 3 holes that match the three in the bottom of the bracket. It clamps on the cable and the cable end goes to a link rod on the motor.

Look at this PDF from Teleflex. It shows what I'm trying to say. Look at the Transom Support Mount.

Thanks GA this is starting to make some form of sense. The motor has never been mounted to this boat and thatbracket was just a part I pulled off a parts boat once upon a time, so I am not sure what I need. By looking at the Teleflex pdf link posted it looks like all I will need is the support sleeve part#SA27274P. Would you agree?

I think so Rayzor. But I've never done it. The support sleeve simulates the tilt tube to give a mount for the cable. You might need a clevis kit to connect the cable to the motor - Item H

And they sell all of this here at iboats.

The last photo looks familar. That looks like it was on the boat for a steering tube to attach to . thats what a bracket does Go to the IBoats site and look up steering and you should see what I m trying to say . There are a few parts you will need and I boats has them.
