Did you ever figure out why your primer bulb was flat?

That suggests a venting issue. Perhaps the vent to your tank is partially blocked causing a restriction at high speed. Try to verify your venting by opening your gas cap a bit.

Another issue is the fuel pump. I had a bad fuel pump ground on my Honda car that resulted in exactly what you are talking about. The engine would run fine under low RPMs but when you needed the gas it would only go good until the float bowl ran out.

So I would suspect a weak/intermittent pump as well. I am not sure if your pump is electric or mechanical.

I think I may have found the problem. The bottom screw, on the plate which holds the throttle and shift cables in place, had worked loose and is now missing. The throttle cable was basically hanging loose in there and wasn't being held stationary. I would assume the timing was advancing, but the throttle was a little behind because it couldn't open fully. I picked up a replacement screw today and tightened it back down again. I'll lake test again tomorrow and let you guys know what/if anything changes......... :)

It's definitely running a LOT better now. Especially at an idle. It's a little sluggish on the hole shot, like it's loading up or trying to flood. Too, it still acts as though it's starved for fuel at WOT, as it still wants to bog down from time to time. Mid range speeds are excellent. Only when I take it past 5200 rpm's, do I start to notice the problem. I've not had a problem with the tank venting, but that's not to say I don't now. I'll try loosening the cap first, then I think I'm going to go ahead with the fuel pump rebuild next. The carbs will be cleaned, and new kits installed, if that doesn't fix it. I suspect a piece of paper from an oil can, or something, was trapped over the pick-up tubes inlet that caused the ball to be sucked flat. It hasn't done it since running it low on fuel. I may remove the fuel cell for cleaning, but that's going to be my last resort. I'm not sure it can be removed without taking the top cap off the boat, and that's going to be a job I'm not sure I can handle!!! Anyone have any other suggestions before I start rebuilding things? Thanks a bunch for hanging in there with me gentlemen!!!!

I had a problem similar to yours, but it involved a removable aux tank that I hadn't used in awhile. Apparently it had some junk in it, which managed to get by a water separator/filter, and the fuel pump screen.

Here's what I did to prevent further problems:

Did you test it with a second clean auxillary portable tank?
