I have been pretty sick for a couple of months. Infections, strange symptoms like sunburn on my hand, pretty constant pain. Been on hydra codone, so my brain is functioning a little fuzzy, too. After the infected wound in my finger healed, the worst pain has been some sort of "thing" in my throat. Went to an urgent care clinic Sunday and my regular Doc Monday. Got shots and a bottle of penicillin and an appointment with a ENT guy today.

The ENT guy ran an endoscope through my nose into my throat to look at "something not normal". Then he shoved his finger down my throat and poked it. Nearly passed out from the pain.

Waiting for the Hospital to call to tell me when to come in for a biopsy and a MRI.

Anybody have any experience with "something not normal" in their throat?

I feel for you JB!
Yeah, since early December.
My GP had been treating a tyroid issue for about 9 months, and this feeling of something 'stuck in my throat' came up suddenly one day as I was driving. After whining to the GP for a couple visits I finally had the endo done without any positive conclusion. It's called Globus sensation. Some info here: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-globus-hystericus.htmme
I've found it helps to keep the mind busy at all times.
Good luck bro, think positive and keep fightin'!

I had an abnormal growth on my tyroid which was about the size of a golfball. Doctor didnt know even after test if it was a cancer or not and my stress meter went off of the charts. It wasnt and was removed with no issues. Best advice I can give is to never let yourself get to worried about this even though its easy to do. By far most of the even serious conditions you may or may not have to deal with can be treated with good results. take care

About the nearest experience I have had was once I was mowing the grass on a hot day. I was hot and thirsty, and grabbed a beverage of my choice and guzzled it down. I had a awful sensation of something caught in my throat. After a visit to the hospital, with the whole scope thing.... I found out that I had "pulled" a muscle in my vocal cords. I had that sensation for about a week, and could hardly talk. Finally with time, everything went back to normal.
Hoping for the best for you JB. And a speedy recovery.

Re: Need some positive vibes.

I do construction work and have always been around dust in job sites ( drywall dust, insulation fibers, ect. ). One day I noticed a tickle in my throat and tried washing it down with water, tried cough drops nothing seemed to work. This went on for a few weeks then eventually went away. About a month later I went thru a drive thru to get a cup of coffee and when I turned to the left to place my order I could not talk loud enough to be heard, turn to the right and could talk fine but to the left it was like I was very hoarse. It never got better so I decided to go see the doctor and sure enough I had "some kind" of growth in my throat. It had to be removed surgically and thankfully it was not cancer.

Best of Luck to you JB we will keep you in our prayers.

It may be a hernia type item or a tumor of some kind...can be benign or malignant, but it's good to go ahead and deal with it. Good luck and keep us posted!:)

Re: Need some positive vibes.

I'm sure there are some pretty bad things that can be "not normal" in your throat, but there are plenty of not-so-bad things that are "not normal" too.

Try not to worry too much yet, JB. We're all pullin' and praying for you.
