I am replacing the transom on my 1989 Crestliner Phantom. Its aluminum. It looks like i have to remove the splash well. The splash well is welded in place. Im wondering how I can cut this out to make it easier to weld back up? Am I over thinking this? Should i just take the angle grinder with a metal cutting blade to the welded spots and pop it out? Does anyone have any pics of this process. I've searched and found people talking about removing the splash well but no one said how they remove it. I have one pic of the back of the boat but it doesn't show much. Its a bad time of year to be digging out a transom thats for sure.
