Got relatively new neigbhors that bought the house 3 or 4 doors down from me. For whatever reason this house has a SIX car garage behind the house that they dont seem to be using very much of at all. Was thinking of approaching them about keeping my boat there during winter months. What do you guys think is a reasonable offer. I dont want to be rediculous with the amount but I like to hold on to my money too! Any suggestions?

call around and find out what storage would be, then offer them 1/2. it's free income to them, for space they are not using.

That was exactly along the lines I was thinking....been looking at Craigslist seems to be $100 to $150 for garage space per month . Was thinking maybe $300 for the winter. Hopefully they dont look at craigslist!:D

i thought the lawn idea was a good one until i realized since buying this darn boat I dont seem to cut my own lawn as much as I used to!

Easy now.
It would be a good idea to get to know them before you trust your baby to them.
I would ask them if they have home owners insurance.
As for payment, ask him if he wants to go fishing with you a few times next year.

You also wanna make sure that they would allow you unlimited access. Something that might make them a little uneasy.

Even if you do come to an agreement with them, regarding storage, make sure you keep your own boatowners insurance.

Homeowners insurance can be touchy regarding boats.

Re: Neighbors HUGE garage

Thanks guys...all good advice had thought about some of those things. figured If I wanted to work on the boat I could just arrange to get it and drag it back to my house. Probably should get to know them some to see what kind of personalities they are first . I'm pretty easy going with things but you know that "fences make good neighbors" rule.
