Our Subaru does that too and believe it or not, so does my ancient '98 Grand Cherokee.

You want to talk about annoying... the Mazda has Driver Attention and Driver Drowsiness Alerts.
Escalating auditable/visual alarms along with "take a break" voice command.
Scared the stuff out of me the first time it happened.

I get a pop up "you need a break?"
NO!
my bladder tells me just fine.
then there's the "check the back seat" when turning the car off.....
jeez...

There's some good here, but some of it, is so irritating, I don't think I can live with it. I'll take auto braking and adaptive cruise control but the rest please. We are all grown-ups now.
More than that, here are things forced on us I really don't care for:
10 spd transmissions
CVTs
all aluminum and plastic engines
direct injection
plastic oil pans
wet belt designs
front and rear fascias retained by 30 cheap little plastic fasteners
full roof sunroofs that creak and leak
most of this is to reduce weight some is to increase efficiency but not ONE DANG bit of concern for repair costs. Why do you think your insurance is so much more expensive?
You have a back up camera, great till it breaks then your car won't pass inspection till you fix it for $2 grand
You brake a tail light on a Ford F-150 just check the price on that ($1700?)
and politicians crow about "affordability"

10 spd transmissions
I love 10 speed transmissions. Had it on my 2018 F-150 and have it on my 2024 GMC 2500. Both are the smoothest shifting transmissions I have ever owned and perfect for towing, although they never go above 8th gear while towing. Coupled with adaptive cruise control, you never have to deal with turning off cruise even when the transmission is shifting under load.

Lou, have you ever driven a car with a 10 speed especially towing?

The 10 speed in the denali is pretty good. The (more or less the same) 10 speed in the ford is a jerking shuddering mess. Coincidentally the 10 speed in my cousins sierra behind the 6.2 does the same thing as the ford. In both those cases I equate it to someone not knowing how to drive stick in what it feels like. I'll take it over a cvt though they do have their place.

Actually the denali is very good if I'm going to be honest about it. If I had to replace my 19 right now that'd be what I slide into after owning current vehicles from the big 3 and yota.

Love my ten speed in my 2025 Chevy 2500. Pulls like freight train when loaded. Smooth as can be everyday driving.

The 10 speed transmissions in the Ford and GM are sister transmissions from the same Ford/GM JV

most of us , or some like me, posting on the original subject do not deny that these new "devices" perform better or smoother.....in the short haul.
I look at it from a longevity, reliability issue for the long term. Also from a DIY repair capability. I don't trade in every 3,4,5 years. My camaro is an '02, truck is an '08. And the computer stuff is still a worry.

I also run vehicles for about 15 years/300,000 miles or more. the screens in my 2014 GMC are both going belly up. the fix is to buy new screens. however if that happens, the motor and trans will go stand-alone ECM. the problematic 6L80E will get rebuilt for the 4th time or replaced with a 6-speed manual at which point the iffy T-case with the electric shift will be replaced with an Atlas unit. the infotainment unit will get replaced with something, and the truck gauges will get replaced with AutoMeter.

then again, all the exterior weatherstripping, plastic light housings and plastic trim on the truck is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Today's vehicles are just NOT designed to go more than 8 years or 100,000 miles like the vehicles were just 15 years ago.

No I haven’t but test drove a Bronco with it. Just not used to that much shifting I guess, seeing as how what I’ve driven for many years are Chrysler automatics (4 speed 42RE very old school, & 545RFE, the last Chrysler designed auto before they went to the ZF 8 speed).

That’s one reason why I kept the old 98 ZJ Grand Cherokee. Simple vehicle no screens no nanny devices it does have the long lived AMC/Chrysler 4.0 six and the manual NV 242 transfer case with 2wd, 4 high, 4 high full time & 4 low. Best t case ever put in a Jeep. It does have 4 channel abs which was better than some vehicles of that era. Drivetrain has over 180,000 on it now.

So far, my 19 has given me no reason to suspect it won't go 300k+. As of right now I'm half way there. That being said the 07, 03, and 04 are well beyond that on just brakes and tires so.... probably should've kept the 04.

Edit for clarification: if anything gives me issue, it will be the HMI for sure.
